Finally I can reveal the pictures and details of my recent projects.

It was my husband's birthday this week and I had two special handmade gifts for him. The first was a crocheted monkey which I am really pleased with. I made it from the free pattern by ChimuChimu and it was very clear and straight forward. I used brushed double knitting yarn to give a "furry" look to the smiley creature. He is still nameless but my husband is working on that!

The other handmade gift was a hooded cardigan. Apologies for the poor quality picture but as yet I have not been able to get a photo of it in action! This pattern is from Lion Brand although I am not so happy with the result. I think the design is a little poor as the front rides up due to the way the hood is added to the cardigan. So as a result the front is shorter than the back. Oh well, not quite right. I offered to rip it out and make another design but he didn't want that and is happy with it! The yarn is Robin Chunky in Brown.

The other project I have to show you is a slouchy beret that I was commissioned to make for a friend. I am really pleased with the result of this as well and the simple crochet design has inspired me to create my own hat patterns which I hope to share with you soon. This pattern was by Julie King on Ravelry and it's great. I was asked to use really soft wool so I choose Robin Double Knit Cranberry Marl (although this pattern is for chunky wool, I just used two strands together).
